BLOG TOUR (Review, Excerpt & Giveaway) - The Shameless Hour (The Ivy Years #4) by Sarina Bowen

Title: The Shameless Hour (The Ivy Years, #4)
Author: Sarina Bowen
Genre: NA | Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 14, 2015
Tour Hosted by: As the Pages Turn

Synopsis

The girl who’s had everyone meets the boy who has no one.

For Bella, the sweet-talking, free-loving, hip-checking student manager of the Harkness men’s hockey team, sex is a second language. She’s used to being fluent where others stutter, and the things people say behind her back don’t (often) bother her. So she can’t understand why her smoking hot downstairs neighbor has so much trouble staying friends after their spontaneous night together. She knows better than to worry about it, but there’s something in those espresso eyes that makes her second guess herself.

Rafe is appalled with himself for losing his virginity in a drunken hookup. His strict Catholic upbringing always emphasized loving thy neighbor—but not with a bottle of wine and a box of condoms. The result is an Ivy League bout of awkwardness. But when Bella is leveled by a little bad luck and a downright sinister fraternity stunt, it’s Rafe who is there to pick up the pieces.

Bella doesn’t want Rafe’s help, and she’s through with men. Too bad the undeniable spark that crackles between the two of them just can’t be extinguished.

Excerpt

I held her a little closer as we danced. The band had no vocalist, but I could hear Louis Armstrong’s voice in my head. Give me… a kiss to build a dream on. “I’ve always loved this song,” I confessed.

“Wait, really?” Bella stood up taller so she could look me in the eye. “Have you listened to the lyrics? The guy gets a single kiss, and he basically says that it’s enough — he’s just going to fantasize about it for the rest of his life. I mean… what a rip.”

I bit back a smile. “It’s romantic.”

“It’s unsatisfying,” she countered. “Here, I’ll show you.” Before I knew what was happening, Bella came closer. Her silky thumb stroked once across my cheekbone. Then she stood up on her toes and kissed me.

The first press of her sweet lips against mine stopped my breathing. Though you couldn’t have paid me to resist her. Sheer instinct made me lean into that kiss with my entire being.

Bella’s mouth melted onto mine, and a needy little sound issued from the back of her throat. Heaven. I deepened the kiss, and our tongues touched once. She tasted of red wine and desire. An electric pulse traveled the length of my body. Unbidden, my hands pulled her closer, my fingers in her hair…
The sound of applause brought me back to earth with a thunk. The song had ended, and the band segued into some kind of swing tune. Bella and I broke apart on a gasp. For a second we just stared at each other. “See?” she said eventually.

But I didn’t have the faintest recollection of the point she’d been trying to make. “What?”

Amusement tickled her features. “Never mind. I hear my wine glass calling me.” She tugged on my hand.

"I'm supposed to be writing a paper about female subjugation. But all I want is for someone to give me a good pounding."

Sarina has knocked another book out of the park creating another must read book in this series.

We met Bella in the previous book as the best friend of Graham and a former lover.  Bella is a strong character with an LOVE of a good time with men in her bed, however a one-night stand with a frat guy leaves a sour taste in her mouth and an experience she would much rather forget.

Rafael (Rafe) lives in Beaumont house, the same as Bella and when he has a bad night with his girlfriend ends up sleeping with Bella.  However after feeling guilty he runs, but finds and helps Bella when she is at her lowest point.

Rate shows Bella that not all men are the same and continues to be there for her, getting her out and being a friend when she needs it most.

Attraction keeps both Bella and Rafe closer together and old friends on Bellas side turn up to see her, also we meet Lianne, Bella's neighbour who Bella eventually befriends.  (Luanne definitely needs a story of her own!)

I love this series and it continues to get even better as the series progresses.

REVIEW - Finding It (Losing It #3) by Cora Carmack

The Book
Release Date: 15 October 2013

Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find where you truly belong...

Most girls would kill to spend months traveling around Europe after college graduation with no responsibility, no parents, and no-limit credit cards. Kelsey Summers is no exception. She's having the time of her life . . . or that's what she keeps telling herself.

It's a lonely business trying to find out who you are, especially when you're afraid you won't like what you discover. No amount of drinking or dancing can chase away Kelsey's loneliness, but maybe Jackson Hunt can. After a few chance meetings, he convinces her to take a journey of adventure instead of alcohol. With each new city and experience, Kelsey's mind becomes a little clearer and her heart a little less hers. Jackson helps her unravel her own dreams and desires. But the more she learns about herself, the more Kelsey realizes how little she knows about Jackson.

My Opinion  4 STARS
We met Kelsey in book one as one of Bliss's best friends and the strong, party loving girl that helps Bliss get out when she finds out she still got her v-card.

Kelsey is often seen partying and being the life and soul of the party, however even her friends do not know about the secrets that she carries within.

Now on her Europe travels after college she is trying to find herself and what she is missing, however she is still in the same old pattern.  Kelsey is going out every night and getting drunk and finding a new man to spend her night with, using her fathers money to her advantage.  It is only after she meets Hunt that things start to change.

Jackson Hunt is also carrying his own wounded past and a secret that could destroy them.  He is patient with her, shows her another way of living.

We see Kelsey's past and present pain, we find out why she acts the way she does and we watch as all of it catches up to her and suddenly she has to deal with her own emotions and feelings.

A better story the the previous books.

BLOG TOUR (Review) - Ropes and Revenge (Lonesome Point, Texas #6) by Jessie Evans

Book & Author Details:
Ropes and Revenge by Jessie Evans
(Lonesome Point, Texas #6)
Publication date: April 14th 2015
Genres: Adult, Suspense

Synopsis:
Eight months ago, John Lawson lost his wife and best friend in a tragic accident on his family’s ranch. In the time since, he’s devoted himself to two things—taking care of his two newly motherless sons and proving that Lily’s accident was no accident. Now, he finally has hard evidence that his wife was murdered and he won’t rest until he has the killer’s blood on his hands. He doesn’t have time for anything but vengeance, especially not a crazy ghost hunter wanting to poke around the old spring on his family’s ranch.
Persephone Styles—Percy to her friends—learned about ghosts the hard way, when she was orphaned by a violent crime at the age of seven. Ever since, she’s seen spirits and been obsessed with studying souls beyond the grave. She’s in Lonesome Point to document the town’s spectral activity, but finds herself powerfully drawn to widower John Lawson and empathizing with his grieving children. For the first time in years, Percy is as riveted by the living as she’s always been by the dead and longs to be a part of John’s life.
But when one night of passion becomes something more, Percy realizes John is as haunted as she is and that the man she’s coming to love is walking a dangerous road that may end with him becoming a murderer’s next victim.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Although all the books in this series can be read as a stand alone book, I would recommend that you read Chaps & Chance before this one so that you can understand how and why John lost his wife Lily eight months ago.

After having lost his beloved wife, John has become a shadow of himself and is still struggling to cope without her. Even though the police have ruled Lily's death as an accident, John is convinced that she was murdered and is still trying to find that missing clue.

Percy is a ghost hunter that works for free to help trapped souls move to the other side. She has read of the curse on the Lawson ranch and is there do see if she can do anything to help. Percy is mot really used to the living and is used to being scoffed and laughed at, but Lonesome Point is different from the beginning. They welcome her and befriend her, especially as she proves her validity in her work.

John and Percy work together very quickly after she finds a clue that sends them on the path of enlightenment to lily's death and they find themselves getting closer quite quickly, especially as Percy challenges John in ways to bring him back to life again.

We get the element of danger that we get from the previous books and we also get the emotional attachment between the characters to the point that you are routing for them to get together and really wanting that happy ending to happen.

After the epilogue you get a sense of closure from the group of adults, but its great to see the beginning of the spin off series that will focus on the kids and to begin with Peyton and Clem.

I really can't wait to see what happens with the kids :)

A Garrick & Bliss Short Story

The Story can be found online here

My Opinion  0 STARS
This very short story was written for one of Cora Carmack's fans.  Her fan Kerry, was diagnosed with lung cancer and she wanted to do something special for her. "Losing It" and Hamlet were her favourites, so Cora wrote this for her.

This is a cute little story where Garrick has lost a bet an therefore has to get a tattoo.

There is a smoking hot sex scene in the bathroom as Bliss and Garrick show just how hot for each other they still are and how much they still can't keep their hands off each other.

REVIEW - Keeping Her (Losing It #1.5) by Cora Carmack

The Book
Release Date: 15 August 2013
Goodreads Link

Garrick Taylor and Bliss Edwards managed to find their happily-ever-after despite a rather . . . ahem . . . complicated start. By comparison, meeting the parents should be an absolute breeze, right?

But from the moment the pair lands in London, new snags just keep cropping up: a disapproving mother-in-law-to-be, more than one (mostly) minor mishap, and the realization that perhaps they aren't quite as ready for their future as they thought.

As it turns out, the only thing harder than finding love is keeping it.

My Opinion  3 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This novella focuses on Garrick taking Bliss, his fiancee, to meet his parents in London and is told from both points of view.

Bliss is completely nervous about meeting her future in-laws, but the initial meeting does not go well.  She has to act a part in order to cope.  Meanwhile Garrick struggles to be in the world that he left behind eight years ago, and did not miss.

Thos novella just shows that Bliss and Garrick are perfect for each other as they both make the other stronger, whatever is thrown at them and that they will do anything to make the other happy.

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I really do love it when I can get my hands on the latest goings on in this series and this edition is another knock-out read.

First of all, can I say that Michael is again one of the foreground characters of friends and I would completely kill for a novella in regards to his HEA.  The amount of times that he has stepped in and helped or just been there as a friend really shows how sweet he is and I completely love him.

In regards to our two main characters Meg is Judy's best friend and is helping to run Alliance and when she hears of an Island Resort that only goes by word of mouth.  Her interest is gained.  Especially as it is a place where the paparazzi are not allowed, so she thinks the place would be perfect for the Alliance customers.

Valentino Masini owns the Island Resort in question and lives there with his mother and his sister Gabriella.  The Italians are welcoming, but Valentino is very quickly taken with Meg and her sharp wit.

It is not the reluctance of the characters that stops the two coming together, but circumstances on the island change where there is a situation that arises that has never happened on the island before and all the characters end up fighting for their lives as well as their reputations.

We get a good introduction into one of the main character in the the next book with Gabriella, and therefore we will understand why she will find it so much harder to trust men and the ordeal that she has gone through.

I am very sad to realise that there is only one book left in there series and would completely love it if we could introduce new days in the week, just in order that this series can continue.

If you have not read any of the books in this series, they can be read as a stand alone, however I would really recommend that you read the entire series, simply because they are fantastic.

REVIEW - Losing It (Losing It #1) by Cora Carmack

The Book
Release Date: 15 October 2012
Goodreads Link

Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, Bliss Edwards decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible - a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

My Opinion  3 STARS
This is a sweet story that had me giggling at times.  Its a sweet story where a college student has confessed to her best friend that she is a virgin, so her best friend takes her out to get rid of her v-card.

Bliss meets Garrick and has night where she runs out from her apartment with him naked, but when she see's him again, she finds out that he is her new professor.

The attraction sizzles between the two and even though the relationship should not go ahead, both find themselves struggling to keep themselves apart.

With friends both there and making things a little more difficult at times she has Garrick when she needs him most.  However Bliss is her own worst enemy and she has a tendency to ruin things.

It is only when they come down ill that things really change and we get our HEA.

Especially when he’s whisking her out of the paparazzi’s prying eyes on the back of his motorbike – and wearing a tux to rival James Bond!

Nina soon realises that the only way to recover from such a scandal is to toughen up and snag the role of the decade in the year’s hottest YA screen adaptation. Who better to train her than her very own professional stuntman? Getting up close and personal with Dom will take Nina well out of her comfort zone – both professionally and in her closely scrutinized private life. But this A-list couple know only too well that’s it not all happy ever afters in Hollywood…

My Opinion  5 STARS
**My thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Romy Sommer is fast becoming a must read author wherein as soon as I see that a new book is coming out, I am checking daily to see whether it has been released.

Romy has created another contemporary romance wherever Westerwald characters interact with the new characters.

Nina is an actress that does not win that award again and is very much looking to change her roles from Rom-Com to Action as there is a role that she would do anything to get.

Dom is a stunt man that worked on one of her films where she worked alongside Christian Taylor who has links to Westerwald.  He is asked by Nina to help train her to become the person she needs to be in order to get the role.

Both have personalities that are strong and they know what they want, however whilst hiding from a scandal and in secret training for the role she wants, both Dom and Nina are living together, a new thing for them both, where they end up being more themselves than they have in a long time.

The intense training, their good looks and their passion soon turn into more, and both end up wanting more, but both have secrets they are keeping from each other.

We get shock announcements, lust, love and challenge with people finding their true selves and a rounded story that pulls you in and has you turning page after page.

I greatly anticipate the next book from this author.

BLOG TOUR (Review, Excerpt & Giveaway) - One Night with the Best Man by Noelle Adams

Title: One Night With Her Boss, One Night With Her Roommate, One Night With the Best Man
Series: One Night Series
Author: Noelle Adams
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: Available Now

Anne has worked for her sexy, ex-surfer, businessman boss for seven years, and she’s been in love with him for two. Jake doesn’t think about her as anything but his ever-efficient assistant, though. She’s been trying to get over her feelings by dating other men and interviewing for other jobs—which doesn’t make Jake very happy. But Anne is determined not to put her life on hold for him.

When she gets a new job offer, Jake will do anything he can to keep her, but he still only seems to want her as an employee. Anne might find him irresistible, but she’s learned to resist. There are lines that he’ll just never cross.

But then everything changes in only one night...

Ever since her former roommates deserted her, Meg has had to share an apartment with a lazy, obnoxious ass. He won’t pick up after himself, and he refuses to get a good job. Plus, he doesn’t always wear enough clothes—which is really a problem, because he’s hot.

Maybe he’s occasionally funny. And every now and then he can be sweet. But mostly he’s just annoying. It doesn’t matter how much he’s starting to flirt with her—Meg is going to resist. She’s way too smart to fall for a guy who never takes anything seriously.

But then everything changes in only one night...

Raney wants to enjoy being a bridesmaid at her friend’s wedding, but the best man, Justin Woodward, keeps putting a damper on her mood. He’s brilliant and kind of geeky—not at all the kind of guy she’s used to—but she’s always been nice to him, so she can’t figure out why he acts so cool and obnoxious with her.

It shouldn’t matter what he feels about her, but she can’t stop thinking about him. So her mission for the weekend is to get Justin to like her. Her attempts don’t seem to work at all.

But then everything changes in only one night...

One Night with her Boss:

She leaned down to open the correct drawer and rifled through files quickly until she found the right one.
Jake had followed her over, and she could feel him bristling behind her as she turned around to hand him the file.
He stared down at it. “Why aren’t the receipts in the February drawer?”
“Because the receipts are all over here. If you would let me keep the records electronically, we wouldn’t have this argument every other week.”
“Do you really think I’m going to trust the last ten years of my life to a computer? You’ve got to be crazy. I could lose everything with a key stroke.”
He’d always been kind of a Luddite. A lot of the time she found it adorable.
Not today.
It bothered her unreasonably that he evidently thought the last ten years of his life were only about building this company. As if he was nothing but his work.
She cleared her throat. “Keeping paper records means you could lose everything to a fire.”
“The cabinets are fire proof.”
She shook her head. “Fine. It’s your business. Your files. You can keep ancient paper records if you want. But you aren’t allowed in here. If you want something, ask me.”
He stepped a little closer and braced his arm on the cabinet next to her shoulder. “Who’s the boss here anyway?”
She could tell his mood had changed. He wasn’t angry. He was still bristling, but also almost dryly amused. The transformation of his expression left her breathless, as did his proximity.
Her eyes were right at his chin level, so she had to tilt her head up to meet his eyes. “I’m not trying to be the boss.”
His mouth twitched almost imperceptibly. “You’re pretty bossy, to not be trying to be the boss.”
She swallowed hard, clenching her fists to keep herself from putting her hands on his chest. When he was like this—clever, dry, focused on her—she always seemed to want him the most. “Well, I’m the boss of this room. You’re the boss of everything else.”
“Is that how it works?” He braced his other hand on the cabinet, trapping her between his arms.
“Yes.” She was flushed all over and suddenly conscious of the ache of arousal between her thighs. She had no idea when that had happened. “That’s how it works.”
She could see that he was breathing quickly too, and he looked as hot as she felt. Something new had blazed up in his eyes, and for a moment she was sure he would kiss her.
But he didn’t.
Of course, he didn’t.
She was his assistant. Not his girlfriend.
“Okay then,” he muttered, dropping his arms and stepping back.
“Okay.” She was almost shaking, her body primed and ready for something to happen. When clearly nothing was going to happen.

One Night with her Roommate:

“What’s the matter?” East asked in a different tone. He was still studying her face, and he seemed to see a lot more than he should, despite his lazy insouciance.
“Nothing,” she snapped, annoyed mostly at herself for being bothered so much at the thought of moving out. Her eyes dipped down again to discover that he was a little more erect than he’d been before. In response to the hot flash she felt, she added, “Would you mind putting that thing away?” She waved in the general direction of his groin, carefully keeping her gaze from settling there again.
He glanced down, as if surprised. Then he gave her a hot grin. “Where would you like me to put it?”
“Put it behind a towel or something.”
“And have a little respect. He’s not an ‘it’, you know.”
She had to choke back a laugh at his exaggeratedly aggrieved tone. “It’s a ‘he,’ is it? Does he have a name?”
“Of course.” East glanced down at himself and then back up to her face. “His name is South.”
There was no way Meg could hide the ripple of laughter at this ironic tone. She could see that East was smiling, as if he was pleased he’d amused her so much.
“Well, would you please put South away? Normal people don’t parade around naked, you know.”
“You’re the one who barged in here.” He was still smiling, but he wrapped his towel around his waist, hiding the part in question.
“And I don’t even want to know what you were doing in here on your own with a hard-on.” To hide her embarrassment as it hit home that she was with East naked, she made her voice even dryer than normal.
He chuckled again. “I was thinking about you, of course. And then you came in wearing nothing but my t-shirt and messy hair, looking like a wet dream, so it’s like my fantasies came to life.”

One Night with the Best Man:

“It’s a wedding,” she said. “I have my bridesmaid dress and my dress for tonight and something for tomorrow morning and something for Sunday—plus shoes and all the other stuff I need to get ready. Did you expect me to fit it all in my purse?”
Justin seemed to be hiding a smile now—and it made him surprisingly attractive. His mobile mouth, finely drawn features, and intelligent eyes seemed to convey a lot more than was actually reflected on his face. “Of course not. Didn’t I just say I knew you’d bring a lot?”
She huffed and was about to snap at him for being patronizing when she remembered her mission to get him to like her this weekend. So she made herself smile instead. “Well, I guess you were right.”
He looked briefly surprised, but she kept smiling at him as he closed the trunk.
He was peering at her as they got back in the car. “Is everything all right?” he asked.
“Of course,” she said, beaming at him. “Why wouldn’t it be?”
“I don’t know. Something seems strange.”
“Nothing is strange. We better get going, since we’re already running late. Thanks so much for picking me up.”
“Sure. Any time.” He was still observing her in quick looks as he started the car. “I’m surprised you don’t have a boyfriend to pick you up.”
Yet again, it sounded like he was judging her and finding her wanting. “Why are you surprised by that?”
“You seem like the kind of girl who would always have a boyfriend.”
The truth was she normally did have a boyfriend. She’d have one relationship after another. Each one, she thought would work out up until the moment it apart—either when the guy lost interest or when Raney discovered he just wasn’t what she’d thought. She was constantly getting crushed by how her romantic dreams weren’t coming true.
But there was no reason for Justin to know that.
“Well, I don’t always have a boyfriend. I could have gotten a date, but it would be awkward since I’ll be busy with bridesmaid stuff. I see you don’t have a girlfriend to bring either.”
“No, I don’t have a girlfriend.”
For some reason, she was glad to hear that. It put them more on an equal playing field. But remembering she hadn’t been particularly nice so far, she added, “Well, I’m sure you could get one if you wanted.”
“Is that a joke?”
She blinked. “No. Of course, it’s not a joke. Why would you assume it’s a joke?”
He peered at her again and didn’t say anything.
Be nice. Be nice. Be extra nice.
“Thanks again for picking me up,” she said.
He frowned, looking both surprised and displeased. “You don’t have to thank me again.”
“Well, I appreciate it. You had to go out of your way, and it would have been a real pain for me if I’d had to find another way to get there.” She smiled at him. Usually, her smile was enough to disarm anyone’s bad mood. She’d always been able to get people to return it, even if they were in a bad mood.
But Justin just frowned even deeper. Glancing over from the road, he scanned her face. “Why are you acting that way?”
“What way?”
“I don’t know. Did you take something before I picked you up?”
She gave a little gasp and stopped smiling.
Her mission this weekend was going to be harder than she thought.

My Opinion - One Night with the Best Man - 5 STARS
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

One Night with the Best Man centres around Raney and Justin and Raney's best friends wedding.  Rainy's best friend is Anne from One Night with her Boss and Justin is Jake's little brother.

Raney and Jsutin met a few months ago and the wedding details were being planned and things went well to begin with until he suddenly became cold.  Raney being a people person and wanting to make everyone happy does not understand the change in him and vows to try harder to be nice.

It's on the way to the wedding that things start to change as they manage to get to know each other better and start to work out their differences and the heat between them starts to ignite.  They get a true glimpse under the masks to see the real people behind.

After the dinner rehearsal things get even hotter as they end up together.  The day of the wedding however tensions are high due to miscommunication and both end up trying to close down until friends intervene,

This novella ties up the HEA of this bunch of friends and we get a good wrap up in the epilogue of how the HEA is likely to go with Raney and Justin and for Meg and East.

I'm hoping that there are more books in the One Night series even if they do not follow any of the friends other others mentioned in the previous books.
